Wedding in Cape Breton!

We spent Saturday in Beautiful Glace Bay! After a late start, turn around and go back for Lawrence's shoes, then a stop at the Bay in Sydney for pantyhose for me and a change at a gas station for Lawrence into his suit, we arrived at the Church with about 20 minutes to spare. Pretty good! Lawrence and I are both from Cape Breton, I grew up in Donkin (about 15 minutes from Glace Bay) and Lawrence is from Tower Road (about 5 minutes from Glace Bay). When Lawrence was hired at Michelin Tire about 30 years ago, that brought us to New Glasgow area.

The wedding was beautiful, both families are large (many sibblings) so the Church was packed. The bride is Angela Wilson, daughter of Lawrence's niece, Francie and she married B.J. Tracey, who is a great guy. I know they will have a wonderful life together. The other lady in the picture above is Lawrence's sister-in-law Rose who came from Toronto to attend the event.

Supper was delicious and we even had time for a trip to the famous "Chip Wagon". This is a Must Attend event when you come to Cape Breton, a trip home is not complete until you have the most delicious hand cut and deep fried french fries from a truck! They even knew what wedding we were there for, now that's a great small town for you.

We left for home about 7:30, even squeezed in a trip to McFadgens bakery for some treats. Stores just can't bake like the old bake shops can. We couldn't wait, made tea about 10:30 last night and had the thinest, most delicious oat cakes I have ever had.

Now, on to more important things! Yvonne and I will be announcing the winners of the blog contest tomorrow! Yeah! Watch for the post about 6 p.m. from me as I work until 4:30! Keep your fingers crossed!
Deborah
